Travelers in history

History presents us many examples of famous and brave travelers.

Many years ago the world map had another face. It was not completed, with many white spots at it. Desire of some well-known people to discover the world and bring this knowledge to the people was supported by a state. So, the epoch of world discovering was started.

First fold that discovered new places were Egyptians. Of course, their voyages were not very far as it was impossible to cross the sea and definitely the ocean on their light and small wooden ships. Most famous and successful travelers of the past are Phoenicians. In the year 800 B.H. they ruled in the Mediterranean. They reached the territory of modern France and Great Britain and even the shore of Africa. So, they came into the sea not only for sales and buying, but also for the war battles against other folks. Robbery and cruelness was the beginning of discovering new places.

One of the oldest evidences of traveling for "discovering new places" are known from the Norman and Vikings writings (XII c.). They say that ships crossed the ocean to the west, you would not believe, to reach modern America. It is common to think that it was Christophor Coulomb who discovered America, but in XIX c. it was officially admitted that he "established regular sales' ways between New World and Europe".

Phoenicians were suppressed by "the people of sea" (the so-called family unions from 'Iliad" and "Odyssey"). The verses about Odyssey's voyage are very interesting and significant from the point of view of the modern tourist agent. Do you remember all the wonderful, magnificent, delightful and very unusual adventures of this one of the first world travelers? These adventures became the foundation of many modern myths and legends. Just imagine what the trip would be like without all the fairy stories about Scylla and Haribda, Cyclopes, beautiful Calypso and Circe, magicians and wizards...

Sinbad the sailor is another semi-historical, semi-real hero who made a great contribution into the folklore and whose life and adventures became a great source for many excursions in the whole world. These stories are based on real voyages of the eastern merchants and Indian fairy tales.

To resume everything, the world has been a constant interest for people from the very old times. Firstly merchants and warriors went into the see in order to find other places for sales or money and slaves. Those people came to the scientific discovering of the world. They wanted to touch all the wonders with their own hands, and very often these wondered were covered with legends and other fictitious tales. The so-called pedestrian tellers came from one country to another, from one city to another sharing with exotic stories, throwing them into the world. In such a way people learned many interesting facts about real events and many detailed (who knows, perhaps many of them are artificial, but at least it does not prevent us to admire with the richness of the presented culture). Then some of the stories were written done. Unwritten stories were told from generations from generation. Now all the information serves as a strong reason to see the places we are told about.
